Project Description
We are seeking undergraduate research fellows to join our Elementary Computing for All project. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduate program. Our research project, led by Mark Warschauer, UCI Professor of Education and Informatics, is investigating the implementation of a computer science curriculum to meet the needs of English language learners and other culturally and linguistically diverse elementary school students. We are working in partnership with the Santa Ana and Montebello Unified School District. We are seeking research assistants that are capable and interested in working with children, conducting research, analyzing data, and disseminating findings.
Students will receive a $1500 stipend per quarter for 10 hours a week participation in the project. It is also possible to arrange undergraduate field research or independent study credits in either Education Sciences or Informatics for those students who are interested.
Research Assistant Responsibilities

Skills/Experience Needed
Applicants must have completed at least one year of coursework in a major related to Education Sciences, Psychological Science, Informatics, or Computer Science. Minimum of 3.0 GPA. Must commit at least 10 hours per week for fall, winter, and spring. Summer opportunities may also be available.
Additional strengths include strong interest in promoting diverse children’s learning, interests in coding or computing in elementary schools, good written and spoken English, interest or experience in educational research, attention to detail. Fluency in Spanish is desirable but not required. Prospective research assistants must be reliable and interested in working with teachers and children.
